FAVE RAVE w/ FRANKIE & THE WITCH FINGERS + PLATTENBAU + SHYBITS + J MAHON
Here we go with a new edition of FAVE RAVE featuring 4 fantastic live bands and one of Berlin’s hottest DJ Ciaran Brauer to spin vinyls all night long.
“Bubbling up from the psychedelic tar pits of L.A., Frankie and the Witch Fingers have been a constant source of primordial groove for the better part of the last decade. Formed and incubated in Bloomington, IN before moving west to scrap with Los Angeles’ garage rock rabble, the band evolved from cavern-clawed echo merchants to architects of prog-infected psych epics that evoke a shift in reality. After a stretch on Chicago/LA flagship Permanent Records the band landed at yet another fabled enclave of garage and psychedelia – Brooklyn’s Greenway Records, now working in tandem with psych powerhouse LEVITATION and their label The Reverberation Appreciation Society, the group’s latest efforts are dually supported by a RAS / Greenway co-release.”
Shybits is a Berlin based post punk garage rock trio made up of friends Liam from Brighton (Guitar & vocals), Piero from Italy (Bass & vocals) and Meg from South Africa (drums).
The fuzzy, feel-good sound is reminiscent of post punk and 90s garage rock and has been described as’’ Beach Boys suntan nostalgia meets Beatlesque Bedroom pop’’.
Dark post-punk group Plattenbau was formed by Welshman Lewis Lloyd (bass/vox) and Swede Hans Tobias (guitar/vox) in Berlin around 2010. American Brandon Walsh soon joined on drums and the band embarked on their first international tours. They met American Justin Scott (aka Air JHS) at Silent Barn in Brooklyn, and after Tobias returned home to Sweden, he joined Plattenbau in Berlin to play guitar and add some new synth sounds to their palette. After two years of touring, he left the band in 2019 shortly after the recording of Shape / Shifting, which was released after several delays in February 2022. Ahead of support dates with A Place to Bury Strangers, Plattenbau added Sally Brown (live mem. Anika, Gurr) and Jesper Munk to the lineup for its first run of shows after the pandemic.
J Mahon is a musician and artist located in Berlin, Germany originally from North Queensland, Australia.
With influences spanning between Sparklehorse, The Magnetic Fields and The Flaming Lips, Mahon creates a mixture of Indie Rock to Psych Country.
2023 marks the debut single 'Pet Cemetery', the first single from Mahon's album 'Everything Has A Life'. The debut album is to be released by Swiss label Taxi Gauche Records later this year.
