Karl Hyde is Knight of all positive energy and good vibes, as well as the lyric writing poet voice of Underworld who assimilated techno into the art-rock tradition with frantic cut-up lyrics, eccentric humour and waves of improvisation. Karl was, along with Rick Smith, main man responsible for starting the Underworld phenomenon back in the mid 80s. Karl is also a co-founder of the art design collective Tomato, whose work includes television and print advertising, corporate identity, art installations, clothing, and of course, artwork and design for Underworld's various channels of output.
