Doch derzeit sind wir von unserer Vision weit entfernt. Herrschende Eliten und Neoliberale stehen ungeachtet aller sozialer Verwerfungen für ein plan- und rücksichtsloses Fortführen des fatalen Spar- und Kürzungsdiktats. Rechtspopulisten propagieren den Rückzug auf Nationalismus und Festungsmentalität.
Was kann die progressive Linke ihnen entgegensetzen?
Wie gelingt uns eine Trendwende im gesamteuropäischen Kampf für Demokratie und soziale Gerechtigkeit?
Wie retten wir die europäische Idee vor den Neoliberalen und den Rechtspopulisten?
Und welchen Beitrag dazu können wir in Berlin leisten, der Stadt, von der aus die deutsche Bundesregierung die europäische Austeritätspolitik anführt?

DIE LINKE and the democratic movement DiEM25 share the common goal of a
peaceful and united Europe of solidarity, not of isolation and austerity. Regretta-
bly, we are still far away from this vision. Unconcerned by the widespread uphea-
vals in society, the ruling neoliberal elites are recklessly and relentlessly pushing
forward with their disastrous austerity regime. Right-wing populists are promo-
ting a retreat to nationalism and isolationism. What can the progressive left do
about this? How can we achieve a political turnaround in the pan-European strug-
gle for democracy and social justice? How can we prevent the idea of Europe
from being perverted by neoliberal right-wing movements? And what role can we
play right here in Berlin, the place from where the German government is leading
the European austerity regime?
